A live album capturing their first Japan tour in 2005, realized 33 years after their formation, is finally being officially released 20 years after the recording!
Emerging from the Canterbury, England musical community that also launched Gong and Kevin Ayers’ the Whole World, the whimsical progressive rock unit Hatfield and the North formed in 1972. Named in honor of a motorway sign outside of London, the group’s founding membership brought together a who’s who of the Canterbury art rock scene – vocalist/bassist Richard Sinclair was a former member of Caravan, guitarist Phil Miller had tenured with Robert Wyatt in Matching Mole, and drummer Pip Pyle had served with both Gong and Delivery. After a series of lineup…

The guys who make up the country group the Mavericks began their professional music career performing together at rock clubs in Florida. Now you might think that’s a long ride from Nashville, but they found their way easy enough. Once they did, they didn’t leave everything they learned in those rock clubs behind though, and listeners won’t miss the rock & roll flavor that the Mavericks stir into a number of the songs on this 1998 album, It’s Now! It’s Live!
As the title foretells, this is a live album. It was made during a couple of shows the group did in Canada. This is great country-rock music done the way the Mavericks do it best, but the album is a little short with only seven tracks. The songs are fan favorites though, like…

Live at Nelsonica & Clothworkers Hall – this is the first ever released recording of this unique trio comprising of: Bill Nelson (Be Bop Deluxe/Red Noise), Theo Travis (Soft Machine/Robert Fripp/Steven Wilson), Dave Sturt (Gong/Jade Warrior).
The trio performed various concerts between 2009 and 2019 often as part of Bill Nelson’s ‘Nelsonica’ conventions. Following years of planning and preparation, this album consists of live recordings made by the trio in 2011, 2012 and 2018 from 3 concerts in Leeds and York.
The music, a broad sound palette from ambient soundscapes, to rocky workouts and ethereal mood painting was improvised over loosely prepared structures. with occasional use of backing…

In 2024, Georgia-based guitarist, composer, and improviser Shane Parish released Repertoire, an album of 14 covers on solo acoustic guitar. The songs were mostly from forward-thinking jazz composers – Ornette Coleman, Charles Mingus, Alice Coltrane, Sun Ra, among others – along with interpretations of songs by the likes of the Minutemen, Captain Beefheart, and Aphex Twin thrown in for good measure. The result is a gorgeous puzzle of acoustic recordings that brought together unique compositions interpreted by a fearless soloist.
Now, with Solo at Café OTO, Parish has created something of a companion piece, swapping out the acoustic guitar for a Squier Telecaster electric, and covering a variety of compositions…

Kenny Reichert‘s a terrific guitarist, but the Chicagoan also has a knack for writing catchy tunes and insidious melodies. Look no further than this latest set’s opening number, “Poppy Seed,” whose slinky theme burrows quickly under the skin. On his first live album, recorded in October 2024 before a small but appreciative gathering at the city’s Pro Musica, the guitarist partners with alto saxophonist Lenard Simpson, upright bassist Ethan Philion, and drummer Devin Drobka, reputable players in their own right and much sought after when not leading their own projects. Each excels in a free milieu and helps midwife Reichert’s five originals into being, and a clear impression of group identity forms as the album plays.
Live in Chicago is looser and more open-ended…

The Go! Team celebrated 20 years of their debut album Thunder, Lightning, Strike with a sold out Roundhouse show in February 2024. Capturing a band still at the height of their powers, this limited edition contains all the kaleidoscopic chaos and energy that make The Go! Team live such a unique experience.
Kicking off the performance with “Panther Dash,” an instrumental track from Thunder, Lightning, Strike, The Go! Team showcased a blend of influences ranging from indie, funk, hip-hop, folk, and mysticism. The track’s glorious trumpets elevated it to a status reminiscent of Beck’s “Sexx Laws.” Following this opener was the iconic “Ladyflash,” the song that introduced the world to The Go! Team. Reflecting on the setlist, one couldn’t…

Prog superstar Steven Wilson has released a new album, Impossible Tightrope: Live in Madrid. It’s the first release to arrive via Wilson’s new audiophile platform, Headphone Dust.
“For some time I’ve been planning to have an online platform where I can focus on making audiophile versions of the things I work on,” says Wilson. “I love (and am still committed to) the Blu-ray format, but not everyone has the capacity to play these discs, not to mention that these releases need to be limited and tend to go out of print quickly, meaning the audio becomes unavailable. “So I’m happy to announce that a brand new Headphone Dust high-res audio resource has now launched and will provide a permanent home for my work to be downloaded in high resolution, 5.1…

This release unearths a previously unreleased live recording from Boris’s 2019 US tour, captured shortly after the release of the single tears e.p and the album LΦVE & EVΦL.
Released in 2019, LΦVE & EVΦL is a conceptual work consisting of two contrasting yet intertwined albums. Following the heavy yet catchy Noise (2014) and the organic deepening of Dear (2017), the 2019 single tears e.p arrived as a pendulum swing toward pure popness, featuring collaborations with Narasaki (Coaltar Of The Deepers) and Shinobu Narita. Subsequently, the album LΦVE & EVΦL peered into the abyss of “heavy” even further-manifesting a world of saturated contours and gridless, intoxicating soundscapes that redefined…

With Live Archive Vol. 1: Going to Princeton 10/20/24, The Mountain Goats open the doors to what feels less like a conventional live album and more like a curated moment in their long-running relationship with their audience. Recorded at the McCarter Theatre Center in Princeton, the set captures John Darnielle and company in sharp, confident form—relaxed enough to let songs breathe, but focused enough to give each one its emotional weight. The sound is clear and unforced, preserving the intimacy that has always defined the band’s best live performances.
The 21-song setlist spans multiple eras, moving effortlessly from deep cuts like “Idylls of the King” and “Raja Vocative” to live staples such as “This Year,” “No Children,” and “Heretic Pride.”

Bruce Springsteen Solo Acoustic
Any reasonable interpretation of Bruce Springsteens disparate activities in the year 1995 could only lead one to conclude that he had reached a point where he didn’t know what the hell he wanted to do or where he wanted to go musically. That is, until the release of The Ghost of Tom Joad. Suddenly, everything came into focus and boy did he lock in. One might even say he never let go.
The Joad tour began in late 1995, crossed much of 1996, and was extended again into the first half of 1997, which included a ten-show Australian run and this fine fifth and final show in Sydney. Springsteen stayed on the road for two simple reasons: he immensely enjoyed the solo experience and the subject matter he was performing…

Take Me Back Live from the Gorge, capturing the band’s performance from Saturday, August 30, 2025 when the band played Before These Crowded Streets in its entirety.
On that night, DMB played a handful of songs, beginning with Bob Dylan’s “All Along The Watchtower” and including subtle nods like “You Never Know” and “It Could Happen,” before launching into album opener “Pantala Naga Pampa.”
Béla Fleck, who had guested on the album, joined the band for “Last Stop” and “Don’t Drink the Water.” After a long-rumored and rarely played performance of album closer “Spoon,” the band called Jake Simpson onstage to play violin on fan favorites “Satellite” and “Tripping Billies.” The encore closer raised the question everyone…

Black Doldrums’ set at the 2025 Fuzz Club Festival is being immortalised on wax with this super-limited live album release. The London-based band founded by Kevin Gibbard and Sophie Landers fall somewhere between dark neo-psych intensity and gothic post-punk melancholy that’s all the more powerful live on stage.
Their first appearance at the Fuzz Club Festival – which takes place every year at the Effenaar in Eindhoven, the Netherlands – was in support of their latest studio album ‘In Limerence’, released in late 2024. Their discography-spanning set comprised five tracks from the new album (‘Hideaway’, ‘In Silence’, ‘Dying For You’, ‘Tarantula’ and ‘Painting Smiles’), two from their 2022 debut full-length Dead Awake

Ty Segall’s 2016 Emotional Mugger Tour was a blistering assault of psychedelic surrealism. The power derived from the multiple-guitar, six person set-up of Mikal Cronin, King Tuff (Kyle Thomas), Emmett Kelly, and Wand’s Cory Hanson and Evan Burrows. The surrealism came in when Segall donned a baby’s mask, filtering his rock star persona through a shroud of carnivalesque disguise. When the band turned up at Mark Riley’s BBC recording studio, they had already logged 50 shows. It was mayhem — how could it not be? — but finely tuned.
This five song EP revisits the glorious abandon of that mid-teens iteration of Segall’s art. It delivers four songs from Emotional Mugger, plus a rabid but abbreviated run-through of…

Dave’s Picks Volume 57 contains the complete show recorded at the Uptown Theatre in Chicago on February 1, 1978, and also includes some songs from the previous night’s concert.
…The Uptown Theatre, originally a movie palace, opened in 1925. From 1978 to 1981, the Grateful Dead played 17 shows at the Uptown. The January 30 & 31, and February 1, 1978 shows comprised the band’s first concert run at the venue.
This very first Dead run at the Uptown is infused with bold exploration from the monster first set of classics (“Jack Straw, “Friend of the Devil,” “Me and My Uncle”) with a “Sugaree” reminiscent of May ’77 to close things out, from Bobby’s powerful delivery of “Samson and Delilah,” to the Rhythm Devils’ spacey psychedelic…

One Moment in Time: Live in the USA is the logical extension of the process of refinement that Robin Trower has undertaken with his studio albums of recent years. Running roughly 77 minutes in duration on compact disc and a double LP vinyl set, fourteen tracks taken from two shows on a 2025 American tour allow the British guitar hero to do justice to a solo career begun in 1971 upon his departure from Procol Harum.
It is utterly pragmatic that Trower collaborates with some of the same individuals with whom he’s fashioned such finely-honed expressions of contemporary blues like last year’s Come and Find Me and No More Worlds to Conquer from three years prior. The recordings were mixed for maximum detail by Sam Winfield…

Cherry Red, longtime home for Howard Jones’ catalogue, release an unheard set from the beginning of his career.
Live at the Marquee, finds the inimitable singer-songwriter-keyboardist wowing a crowd at the late London venue just before his commercial breakthrough in 1983.
The wholly unreleased show, was unearthed from master tapes when the label began compiling bonus material for reissues of his former Warner catalogue in 2018, and remixed by Jones himself for this release. (It appears from the metadata that three of these Marquee tracks were originally released as B-sides to early singles.) The packaging includes rare and unreleased photos of Jones from the period.
When the then-28-year-old Jones took the stage…

For last year’s Record Store Day Black Friday lineup, Rhino puts The Doors front and center with Live in Copenhagen, a previously unreleased 1968 performance finally pulled from the vault. Live in Copenhagen captures the band’s full early show from September 17th at the Falkoner Centret during their European tour. It’s a substantial RSD Exclusive — one that highlights The Doors at a pivotal moment, delivering a raw, unpolished document that adds real value to the band’s live catalog rather than reworking material fans already know by heart.
The set begins with “When the Music’s Over,” and the performance immediately shows a band working with precision rather than chaos. Morrison keeps his delivery steady…

The Live at City Gardens EP features a blistering six-song soundboard recording captured live on February 11, 1984, at the legendary punk club City Gardens in Trenton, New Jersey.
The EP showcases the band’s raw, electrifying energy as they were on the cusp of releasing their landmark album, Let It Be. The latter tune was a birthday request from Jesperson, who was The Replacement’s manager and the co-founder of the band’s label, Twin-Tone Records, in addition to being Let It Be’s co-producer.
A collector’s item, this 10″ EP was released exclusively as a pre-order bonus alongside The Replacements – Let It Be (Deluxe Edition). It features clear, high-quality audio and includes a rare live performance of the ballad “You’re Getting Married.”

The Grateful Dead performed at The Warfield in San Francisco on October 4 and 6, 1980, as part of a historic 15-night residency celebrating the band’s 15th anniversary. These shows featured a unique three-set format: one acoustic set followed by two electric sets.
Highlights from the acoustic sets of these specific dates were recently compiled and released as a limited edition live album titled The Warfield, San Francisco, CA Oct 4 & 6, 1980 for Record Store Day Black Friday 2025.
A perfect blending of older cuts from Dead’s extensive repertoire, these two sets include classics like ‘Bird Song’, ‘Cassidy’, ‘Dire Wolf’, and ‘To Lay Me Down’, amongst many others, with each set ending with ‘Ripple’. Produced for…
