This album presents Jakub Hrůša and the Bamberger Symphoniker in the complete cycle of Bohuslav Martinů‘s six symphonies, recorded at the Bamberg Concert Hall. All six works date from the composer’s American exile and represent his mature compositional voice, and the cycle marks the first complete Martinů symphony set in Deutsche Grammophon’s catalogue, as well as a significant continuation of Hrůša’s long-standing advocacy for the composer both in the concert hall and on record.
