After Gary the fibreglass gorilla (and the wildly successful 2024 album named after him) took indie icons Blossoms far and wide, for their sixth studio effort the band have opted to shift their focus to something a tad closer to home. Named after the local moniker for Stockport Town Hall where frontman Tom Ogden tied the knot, Songs From The Wedding Cake sees the band addressing the many elements of love and loss (the latter being of a no-claims insurance bonus, rather than a relationship, mind you…).
Recorded live to tape by the five-piece with Shawn Lee (Young Gun Silver Fox) on production duties, Songs From The Wedding Cake sees Blossoms further straying from synth-pop to go full force with rollicking guitar and bass…

Stockport indie giants Blossoms have always had a nostalgic sonic infusion throughout their music and Gary is another shining example of that. The glassy gorilla was the inspiration and indeed the lynchpin for the band’s fifth studio album.
With production from long-time collaborator James Skelly from The Coral and collaborations with Jungle’s Josh-Lloyd Watson and Irish singer-songwriter CMAT, ‘Gary’ is chock-full of glittering riffs, intoxicating hooks and exuberant bass lines. The vibrant dancefloor vibes are emblazoned throughout the album, and especially so with the effervescent ‘I Like Your Look’.
