Peter Hammill has never been an artist interested in taking the easy route. Whether through Van der Graaf Generator or his extensive solo catalogue, his music consistently occupies a space where beauty, tension, introspection and unease exist side by side. Tears in Time, his first solo album in five years, continues that tradition while looking back across decades of creative exploration.
Released through Cherry Red’s Esoteric Antenna label, the album brings together eleven compositions drawn from recordings made at Hammill’s Terra Incognita studio between 1991 and the present day. Rather than feeling like an archival collection assembled from unrelated fragments, Tears in Time develops into a surprisingly coherent journey through memory…

Newly remastered 4CD box set by Peter Hammill featuring his first four studio albums issued on his own label, Fie! Records, between 1992 and 1996. Peter Hammill first came to prominence as the founding member and voice of the legendary progressive rock group Van der Graaf Generator.
Alongside his work with Van der Graaf Generator, Peter Hammill has enjoyed a long career as an innovative and ground-breaking solo artist. In 1992 he established his own label, Fie!, to handle his solo work, beginning with the release of the acclaimed ‘Fireships’ that year. A more introspective work, the album was labelled in the original liner notes as “Number 1 in the BeCalm series” and received much critical praise thanks to songs such as ‘I Will Find You’, ‘Curtains’ and ‘Gaia’.

Peter Hammill of Van der Graaf Generator fame, started his solo career back in 1971 and was signed to both Charisma and Virgin.
The Charisma & Virgin Recordings 1971-1986 comprises all 13 albums all newly remastered from the original master tapes, along with rare BBC sessions and live recordings.
…The 18 CD collection begins with 1971’s Fool’s Mate, Hammill’s first solo offering after the brief dissolution of Van der Graaf Generator, the legendary progressive rock group for which he was the founding member and vocalist. Next is 1973’s Chameleon in the Shadow of the Night which also features songs recorded at a July 1973 BBC Radio John Peel session; 1974’s The Silent Corner and the Empty Stage come with recordings…
