Having unexpectedly passed away in late 2025, the first posthumous album from Todd Snider, My Second Rodeo, arrives right before what would have been the beloved Nashville-based troubadour’s 60th birthday. Soft drums, big horns, and sweet backing vocals flesh out his folk tunes.
My Second Rodeo is not a collection of outtakes and B-sides. In October 2025, just weeks before his death, Snider sent a set of songs to his longtime friend/producer/engineer Joe Bisirri. In emails to Bisirri, Snider said this would be the foundation of his next record and “the sound of country music 10 years from now”.
Maybe, and maybe not, however, Snider recorded his guitars and vocals with the idea that a future set of musicians would follow his lead.
