Conscious Party, Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers’ Grammy-award winning album, is being reissued on vinyl and digital. This is the first vinyl pressing of the album since its initial release nearly forty years ago in 1988. Ziggy Marley & The Melody Makers was founded in 1979 by four of Bob Marley’s eleven children: Sharon, Cedella, Ziggy, and Stephen. They cut their third album at Sigma Sound in New York City with producers Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads, Tom Tom Club.)
Conscious Party was released on April 5th, 1988, and charted at number 23 on the Billboard 200. It spawned multiple successful singles, including number one Billboard R&B chart hit “Tumblin’ Down” as well as “Tomorrow People”…
