It has been announced that YMO 1979 Trans Atlantic Tour Live Anthology, the first live box set to compile audio and video recordings from the five concerts held in four cities during Yellow Magic Orchestra’s 1979 world tour, will released on April 2025.
In 1978, Yellow Magic Orchestra made their debut on Alfa Records (as it was then known) with the album Yellow Magic Orchestra. The following August, they performed their first overseas concert at The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, where the show was recorded live and filmed. Later that fall, they embarked on the Trans Atlantic Tour, becoming the first Japanese band to undertake such a world tour. Transporting more than 1.5 tons of equipment, they performed seven shows across three countries- the UK, France, and the East Coast of the United States-true to the tour’s name, “Trans Atlantic.” Live recordings were made at their performances at The Venue in London (two shows), Theatre Le Palace in Paris, and The Bottom Line in New York.

Le Collectif Tango Negro Ensemble honors the legacy of Juan Carlos Cáceres (1936–2015) with a double album, Tribute to Juan Carlos Cáceres, that reinterprets his most iconic works alongside previously unreleased compositions. A pioneer of what he called “tango negro” (black tango), Cáceres traced the African roots of Río de la Plata music, fusing jazz, candombe, milonga, and murga into a singular Afro-Argentine aesthetic.
The ensemble features a wide network of international artists from tango, jazz, and world music spheres. Guests include Horacio Burgos, Sedef Arçetin, Daniel Melingo, Chino Laborde, Olivier Manoury, Minino Garay, Natalio Mangalavite, Flaco Biondini, Paolo Fresu, Peppe Servillo, Fausto Beccalossi, and Javier Girotto.

After making its NYC debut in the spring of 1988, the band bounced around various rooms — including eight shows at the legendary Wetlands Preserve — before making its debut at The Marquee for the band’s 13th career show in New York City. Animal Collective have released Jetty (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack), an album of music that the band’s Deakin and Geologist composed for a new documentary about the reconstruction of Rockaway Beach after its destruction by Hurricane Sandy. Jetty is directed by Sam Fleischner, whose previous work includes music videos for MGMT, Santigold, and Animal Collective’s own Panda Bear.

A work of minimal, process-based tape music, experimental composer William Basinski‘s Disintegration Loops series achieves astonishingly moving and evocative states through relatively simplistic means. Sister Irene O’Connor didn’t want her convent to know what she was up to. She had moved from Australia to Singapore in the 1950s to work with children, buying a guitar to play them her original songs. In 1965, a parent of one of the children invited her to record at a radio station and soon she had a recording contract with Philips. O’Connor released several EPs and a compilation in the late ‘60s, but to keep her burgeoning recording career a secret, she used the pseudonym Myriam Frances. “Nuns didn’t do that kind of thing,” she later explained.
