Kaikō is the second album by Treen, a young band of younger improvisers who come from different places in Europe. Despite their youth and spontaneous methods, they have a very particular sound, one that is aware of the music’s history but not burdened by it. You could say that the trio comes from Copenhagen, since that’s where they first convened in 2023, but only one of them lives there. That would be Gintė Preisaitė, a Lithuanian musician who plays electronics in some contexts, but sticks to piano in Treen. Tenor saxophonist Amalie Dahl is Danish, but she lives in Norway.
